Monthly Declaration of COVID-19 Related
If you are unable to pay your rent in full due to
COVID-19 related income loss, you must submit this
declaration to your landlord each month as proof.
According to state law, tenants must pay 25% of their total rent from Sept. 1, 2020 through June 30, 2021 by June 30, 2021.
For example, if your rent is $1,000 per month, then the total rent owed from September 1, 2020 – June 30, 2021 (10 months) = $10,000. You must pay $2,500 on or before June 30, 2021 in order to avoid eviction.
Your landlord cannot charge late fees or interest on rent from March 1, 2020 through June 30, 2021, as long as you submit a declaration.
Landlords cannot consider any missed rent payments between March 1, 2020 and June 30, 2021 when they are looking at your rental application.
